Available Attention and Personal Power
In the original language of the Castaneda tradition, there is much talk about energy, personal power, and loss of power. Attention OS translates these ideas into modern pragmatic language: the question is how available attention is for a chosen life, action, and presence.
Why the word "energy" appears here at all
The word "energy" can easily drift into mysticism, so it has to be used carefully. But completely abandoning it is also difficult: people really do feel that anxiety, inner dialogue, conflicts, dependencies, and digital noise seem to take their strength.
Attention OS does not explain this through subtle planes. It offers a simple translation: in many cases, what a person calls loss of energy means that their attention has stopped being available. It is occupied by an argument, an anxious loop, a hurt self-image, waiting, a feed, or the tail of an unfinished situation.
Energy as available attention
In the modern interpretation, energy is the degree to which attention is available for a chosen direction of life. If attention is collected, a person sees the situation more clearly, holds action better, spends less on inner resistance, and returns faster after capture.
If attention is captured or scattered, a person may be physically present in work, conversation, or rest, but part of the resource is already unavailable. It goes into inner dialogue, self-importance, anxiety, waiting, dependency, checking, replaying, or digital noise.
Energy is not a mystical reserve. It is the availability of attention for a chosen direction of life.
What takes the resource
Different mechanisms of Attention OS can be seen as different ways of losing available attention. Inner dialogue burns the resource through endless inner rotation. Self-importance captures attention through the self-image. Tails hold part of attention in episodes that are already finished or still unfinished. The digital environment scatters attention through frequent stimuli.
This is how the familiar feeling appears: nothing especially heavy happened, but there is no strength. Attention was not in one chosen direction, but in many open and automatic processes.
Inner dialogue
Attention goes into inner arguments, scenarios, justifications, and replaying the situation.
Self-importance
Attention is captured by the self-image and stops being available for action.
Tails
Part of the resource remains connected with what has externally ended or been postponed.
What returns energy
Returning energy in Attention OS begins not with inspiration and not with slogans. It begins with a small fact: I noticed that attention is captured. In that moment, the person is already not fully merged with the automatic pattern.
Recording an episode, a pause, the observer question, counteraction, closing or parking a tail, returning to the chosen action - all of this does not magically add power, but frees attention from the automatic process.
Even a small return of attention matters because it creates the experience: I am not completely captured.
Personal power
Personal power in Attention OS is not a superpower and not a special energy of a chosen person. It is the ability to hold the direction of attention and not be completely captured by an automatic pattern.
A person with more personal power does not stop feeling anxiety, anger, desire, or vulnerability. But between state and action, space appears. They notice capture earlier, feed inner dialogue less, see self-importance sooner, choose counteraction more clearly, and return more easily to what has actually been chosen.
Hold direction
Not lose the chosen action with every external or internal stimulus.
Not merge
Notice the automatic pattern without becoming it completely.
Return
Return attention again and again without self-blame or dramatization.
The connection with integrity
When attention is less scattered, inner collectedness appears. A person does not become perfect and does not control every reaction, but falls apart less under the pressure of environment, emotions, arguments, feeds, and expectations.
This is where personal power connects with the theme of integrity. The more attention returns from captures, tails, self-importance, and inner dialogue, the more resource a person has to be not a set of scattered reactions, but a more collected participant in their own life.
Integrity begins where attention gradually stops being scattered and becomes available to the person again.
The terms "energy" and "personal power" are used here as modern practical metaphors for available attention, not as medical, religious, or esoteric claims.
